I built this as a custom real estate web app in React with Mapbox for the mapping layer. I chose Mapbox over Google Maps specifically for the customization it offers. The default Google Maps aesthetic would have clashed with the brand. With Mapbox, I could style every element of the map to match the site's visual tone, from water colors to road labels.

The filtering system lets users narrow listings by price, location, and property type. Real estate search is all about reducing noise quickly. Someone looking for a villa in Ubud under a certain price doesn't want to scroll past apartments in Seminyak. The filters update the map and the listing grid simultaneously, so you always know exactly what you're looking at.

The design leans into immersive, atmospheric imagery because real estate in Bali sells on feeling as much as square footage. Big photos, smooth transitions, and bold layout choices give each property the space to make an impression. I wanted browsing this site to feel more like flipping through a travel magazine than scanning a database.

The live content database means listings update instantly without a deploy. New properties appear the moment they're added, prices adjust in real time, and sold listings disappear without anyone touching the codebase. That was a requirement from the start. In a market that moves as fast as Bali real estate, stale listings kill trust.
