I built the wireframes and visual design for IDB's Map Explorer, an internal logistics tool for their teams across Latin America. The core challenge was making complex transportation data, road conditions, shipping routes, and infrastructure status, readable at a glance for stakeholders who need to make fast decisions.

Spanish localization wasn't just translation. It meant rethinking layouts for longer text strings, since Spanish runs about 20-30% longer than English on average. Typographic hierarchy had to be adjusted for Spanish reading patterns, and every map label needed to work in both languages without breaking the layout or overlapping neighboring elements. I tested extensively in Adobe XD to catch those issues early.

The shipping route visualizations were another balancing act. At a zoomed-out continental view, you need to see major corridors and patterns. Zoom in, and the detail should increase proportionally. Too much information at any zoom level and the whole thing becomes noise. I refined the map elements and icon sets in Illustrator, building a system where visual density scales with the user's focus.

The end result gives IDB stakeholders a clear, actionable view of transportation logistics and development projects across the region. It's concise when you need the big picture and detailed when you need specifics. That duality was the whole design goal, and it took real iteration to get right.
