Client Work
Internal market analysis platform for strategic expansion decisions. Demographics, real estate trends, and customizable weighted reports.
I designed an internal market analysis tool for a confidential client that helps their teams make strategic expansion decisions. The platform pulls together demographics, median income, real estate trends, commute data, and more into customizable reports. But the real feature is the weighting system.
Different clients care about different factors. One might prioritize commute times because they're hiring locally. Another might care more about median household income in a five-mile radius because they're targeting a specific customer base. The tool lets analysts adjust these weights and watch the rankings shift in real time. Drag a slider, and the entire report recalculates. That kind of immediate feedback changes how people think about the data. They stop guessing and start testing hypotheses.
The UI had to be clean enough that an analyst could pull it up in a client meeting and walk through the findings without embarrassment. But it also had to be deep enough for power users who spend hours in the tool every week. I landed on a layered approach where the summary view is presentation-ready and the detail views give you everything.
This is the kind of internal tool that doesn't get public attention, but it saves hundreds of hours of manual research every quarter. Before this existed, the same analysis was being done in spreadsheets, one city at a time. Now a single analyst can compare dozens of markets in an afternoon and walk into a meeting with ranked recommendations backed by real numbers.
