MyTBT App for Myanmar

I designed MyTBT, a tuberculosis treatment tracking app for Myanmar's Department of Health. Privacy wasn't a nice-to-have on this project. It was a requirement. TB carries real stigma in Myanmar, and any data leak could have serious social consequences for users. That's why everything stays on-device. No server-side accounts, no cloud sync, no way for anyone but the user to access their treatment data. That architecture decision shaped every design choice that followed.

The app features an offline-friendly calendar system where citizens can self-manage their TB treatments and get notifications for medical checkups. Offline-first was essential because reliable internet access isn't a given for much of the user base. The whole experience had to work without a connection and sync gracefully when one became available.

Localizing into Burmese script was one of the more interesting design challenges I've worked on. Burmese has unique characteristics that don't map neatly to Latin-based typography rules. Line heights, character spacing, and text wrapping all needed custom handling. A button label that fits perfectly in English might overflow or look cramped in Burmese. I tested extensively in Illustrator and Photoshop, adjusting every screen to make sure the typography was clear and consistent.

The end result is a streamlined UX that works for users with limited technical literacy while keeping their personal data fully secure. It's the kind of project where the constraints, privacy, offline support, localization, and accessibility, actually push you toward a better design than you'd get without them.
